Little "craft" changes can make a big difference in decor
The weather's warming up a bit, the first of the daffodils are out, yet your décor is stuck in the winter doldrums.
Here are some quick ways to spruce up your home for spring, without spending a fortune, from HGTV.com, spring home magazines and local stores.
Change up the elements that define your focal point. For many in the area, that means taking a look at the fireplace area. If you've got a hanging photo, make the arrangement less formal by using a few medium-sized photos, instead of one large one, and placing them on the mantel instead of on the wall. You can also change the pottery or the candleholders on the mantel. An idea if you have many that don't match: Paint them white and display them together. Or put away the fireplace accessories for the summer and replace them with a large piece of pottery or a vase, or oversized pillows. That gives you the added advantage of some extra seating.
Replace a lamp shade. Dust builds up on the shades and makes the room look dingy. Or decorate the shades. You can change the trim or you can use Kirigami or other craft paper to decoupage a pattern on the lampshade........
