Knitting events coming up in the next few days

Locally, this weekend Abundant Yarn & Dyeworks has a sale, StitchCraft's celebrating a birthday party, there's a grand opening for SCRAP at their new location, and Crafty Wonderland has stuff for Mom, too.
Alas, it's too late to knit a square for a planned quilted fence cozy in front of the White House to honor Mother's Day. The message, according to the Women Say No to War Web site, will be "We will not raise our children to kill another mother's child." The theme, according to the site, is "Inspired by Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Day Proclamation. We'll be piecing it together from individual squares knitted by YOU as part of the 24 hour Mother's Day vigil for Women who live in War Zones....Celebrate the time honored tradition of the radical act of knitting." We're too late to celebrate by knitting a little pink heart, (and unless you'll be in D.C. over the weekend, too late to help put it together, but we can check out how they did Sunday........
