Early And Rare Upper Missouri River Pony Beaded Hide Blanket Strip
One item at Sotheby's annual sale of American Indian art may be familiar to visitors of a Prescott museum.
On Wednesday, a rare beaded blanket strip, donated to the Smoki Museum by Barry Goldwater, goes on the auction block. It's expected to fetch $100,000 to $150,000.
"It's an absolutely outstanding piece in our collection - one of the finest pieces we had," said Cynthia Gresser, managing director of the Smoki Museum.The buffalo-hide and glass-bead piece is more than 150 years old, and one of only four known to exist, according to Sotheby's catalog.....
