TECUMSEH, Mich. -After Jane Gilbert and her husband moved to Tecumseh from Ann Arbor, she almost immediately found her way to Jane Richard’s Tecumseh Bead Crossing shop. After all, she said with a laugh, “A beader goes to a bead store.”
As Gilbert bought beads from Richard, took classes at the store and just spent time talking with her, the two women quickly struck up a friendship. And then the day came when, as the pair talked about the future of Richard’s business, Gilbert suggested she take on a partner — “never thinking it’d be me,” she said. “But Jane’s eyes lit up.”......
