Quilters weave 'miles of thread' into show

"I do not count the hours, pieces of fabric or the miles of thread, because I do it because I love it," said Susan Painting of the Berry Basket Quilters. "For me, it's strictly because I enjoy doing it."

That sums up the spirit behind the 34th annual Quilt Show held by the Medford Historical Society on Saturday and Sunday at Kirby's Mill in Medford, giving shoppers the chance to purchase hand-made quilts, old and new, and for quilters to show off their many hours of intensive work and creation.

Quilts were on display throughout the historic mill with proceeds from the event going to support the restoration of Kirby's Mill and other Historical Society projects.

The Berry Basket Quilters guild had a special display of its 2009 Community Outreach Projects on the mill's second floor.......
