"Reminiscence" by mosaic artist Kimberly Schonfeld of Appleton, Wis., is part of the Lake Oswego Arts Festival's special 2009 exhibit, "Cutting Edges: Contemporary Mosaic Art."

For weeks, heavy and mysteriously shaped parcels bearing postmarks from all over the world have been arriving in Lake Oswego.

Australia. Italy. Wisconsin. Tokyo. Texas.

One by one, the packages were stowed in the basement of the Realty Trust office on A Avenue.

This week, crews have been hauling them down the hill to the Lakewood Center for the Arts, where their colorful contents will be unveiled Friday in what organizers say will be the largest exhibit of mosaic art ever assembled in the United States.....
