Beading culture evolves with diverse clientele

Every Wednesday morning Jim Owen of Sun City West spends two hours in a private lesson learning the ins and outs of beading at Confetti - The Bead Place in Surprise.
The 84-year-old said it not only helps him create jewelry, it keeps his mind active.
"I have really bad concentration, and this keeps me from getting Alzheimer's and dementia," Owen said.
Besides his private lesson with instructor Melanie Leander, Owen stops in the shop about three times a week, and works on projects at home.....
