Perhaps no trek into history has ever been woven so deftly as the current exhibition at the Museum of Art and Archaeology.
The reason? It’s all about threads.

Textile with appliqués and tassels, Peru; Chimú. Circa 1150–1460, cotton and camelid wool. Weft band plain weave with discontinuous wefts.
Threads made of cotton, milkweed and the delicate wool of the vicuña .
Threads dyed with blue indigo and red insects that once feasted on maple leaves.
Threads woven so intricately they resemble glass beads.......
