Knits: Whew. After another hot week, do you still have the will to craft? Maybe what you need to make is a hot bikini! The folks at Knit Buzz have some great ideas for fun, kitschy knit swimwear. And with those two-piece suits, you can always use the top as a gardening top.

Fun book showed up on a coworker’s desk this week: Wacky Baby Knits. Ever wanted to knit a cow suit for a toddler? How about a Davy Crockett hat? Or winged booties? Whimsy is the name of the game in this book. It’s nicely illustrated, and passes my key design tests: it uses colors and fonts that fit the material, and there are photos of the completed projects on the pages with instructions.

Classes, classes, classes: Want to learn to knit? Hill Country Weavers’ four-part Knit 101 class starts July 8. Yarnorama has a beginning knitting class July 1 (that’s Wednesday - can you believe it?) and a three-part Knitting Socks For Real class starting July 27.
