Drop your needles – weaving offers a fresh, summer-friendly approach to fibers

Sharon Johnson of Hortonville uses her rigid heddle loom to make a rug.
Sharon Johnson learned to knit so early in life that she likely was stitching before she could tie her own shoes.
"I never knew a time when I didn't knit. It's automatic to me," Johnson said.
Now, after decades of plying yarn with a pair of needles, the Hortonville woman has taken shuttle in hand to tackle weaving, too.
"Creating fabric is what's fun for me," she said.
Weaving gives her a new means to do so, with results she enjoys.
"It just looks different (from knitting), and I like that. I like the differences," Johnson said.
