Being laid off motivates man to open glass art studio

Less than six months ago, Don Myhan was enjoying his job as a vice president of human resources. Everything changed in June when his company downsized and he was let go.

 

Yet, instead of sulking in his misfortune, he decided to expand his hobby of producing glass art and go after a lifelong dream of opening an art studio. The product of his dream, Art Cellar Studio, opens Friday at 25 S. Washington St., LL300, in downtown Naperville.

"I've had this dream for years," says Myhan, of Aurora. "With these economic times, people are saying, 'Why start a business now?' I say 'why not?' I think we are seeing an upturn in the world economy, and I have faith that it will keep going. I want to be a part of that.".......
