Elderly man creates a grand piece of paper-cut to celebrate National Day

Xie, 64 years old, was born in Xiantao, Hubei Province. He loved paper-cutting since he was a child. When he was nine, he was made an apprentice to Yi Jiesheng, an old folk artisan, and has engaged in paper-cutting for more than 50 years. In his early years, Xie set up a craft factory. One of his paper-cut works, "The picture of longevity," was exported to eight countries such as the US, Japan and Malaysia and was well received among people at home and abroad. After retirement, Xie is still attached to the paper-cutting art. He has taken part in many paper cutting exhibitions and has won numerous prizes. He is now one of the standing directors for the Paper-cut Art Association in Hubei Province.

 

"I finally finished the paper-cut work before National Day!" Xie said that he was born in the 1940's, and over the past 60 years since the founding of the PRC, he experienced deeply all the great changes that have happened in the motherland......
