Pic N Paint is a ceramic studio and store that offers more than just greenware and glazes.

Owner Joyce Lavin said she offers creative healing.

“It is friendly. The customers are comfortable when they come here,” Lavin said. “They come a lot of times to get away from a hectic day of work. They can sit. They can relax. They don't have to produce something every time. They come and sometimes just sit and visit.”

Emotional rejuvenation was what first attracted Lavin to ceramics, after her husband died in 1966.

“It's the best therapy you can get,” Lavin said. “You don't think about the horrible things that happened that day, or that your husband passed away and you got five kids to feed.”......
