Grey Forest artists to open their studios

Among the charming and quirky homes, amidst the overarching oaks that shroud the northern Bexar County hamlet, 11 gardens and artists studios will open to the public noon-6 p.m. Saturday for the 14th annual Grey Forest Open Studios Art Show.
The free event, touted by organizers as a good chance to stock up on unique holiday gifts, will feature paintings, stone and metal sculptures, photography, inspirational mosaics, hooked rugs, vintage aprons, jewelry, tote bags, assemblages, ceramics, fiber arts, lapidary, and heirloom spinning wheel demos.
Lisa Mittler, a fiber artist and photographer to be featured, had taken photography since high school and now teaches the subject to high school students.
"It wasn't until college that I even knew what a "fiber artist" was and it all started with a weaving class," Mittler said. "From there, I took as many classes in fibers as I could until I graduated."....
