Nonprofit store in Fairport selling used craft supplies pays for seniors’ transportation

Great ideas often come from necessity.Mary McNulty wanted to help the Elderbus program of Senior Options for Independence, which provides transportation service within the town of Perinton for medical appointments and essential errands for residents ages 60 and older.

However, the program needed additional funds to continue thriving.

McNulty didn't have any ideas until she went on vacation to Italy, and on a chance meeting talked with a California woman who ran a business selling craft materials as a charity fundraiser.

After returning to the Rochester area, she began devising the plan. Now eight years later, Craft Bits & Pieces, 138 Fairport Village Landing, continues to blossom, even moving to the larger storefront this year......
