Handmade soaps:Hobby takes woman on path to owning business

Jennifer Bailey liked her first bar of organic soap, a gift, so much that she learned to make it and then decided to make it a career.
Today, Bailey will open a retail location to sell the product, and she has plenty of plans to grow the company.
Her store, Bubbles Bailey Soap & Stuff, will open in the LeCroy Village Shopping Center with her products plus those of other local artists. The three-year journey from novice soapmaker to entrepreneur has been a little bit of a head-spinner, Bailey said.
“At first, it was just a hobby,” she said.
It was a hobby she learned from the Alabama Soapers Guild after a visit to Old Town Alabama. At first, she made soap for personal use, then for sale at a few arts festivals.
Her soaps are made from products such as olive and castor oil and other natural ingredients......
