With heads bowed over their work, four women are stitching in a small room above a coffee shop in Central London, focusing on the intricate needlework, pausing only to change threads or reach for scissors.

The room is a kaleidoscope of colours. Shelves from floor to ceiling are stuffed with cushions in a variety of designs from Union Jacks, bulldogs and butterflies to ships and song lyrics. The origin of these cushions, and the tapestry being pored over on the table, is unusual: a collaboration between prison inmates and volunteers for the charity Fine Cell Work.....
