Styling itself as a proponent and practicioner of "the new yoga" the Woolly Lamb Yarn Studio in Norwood Park seems to revel in dispeling the image of knitting as an old, static past time, according to its Web site.
The studio is at 6007 N. Nina Ave., a block west of the Norwood Park Metra station.
"Experienced knitters and beginners wishing to learn the ancient craft can choose from a great selection of gorgeous yarns from around the world," the Web site states. " ... You'll find a wide variety of the softest baby alpaca, basic knitting worsteds, and baby yarns, novelty yarns, as well as fine Mongolian cashmere. We have wonderful buttons from Germany, a great selection of patterns, and "how to" instructions -- a complete line of knitting accessories."
The studio offers knitting and crocheting classes for adults and children.
"All You Can Knit Nite" is offered 6-8 p.m. Thursdays. Knitters and crocheters gather with their projects to knit or crochet, relax, and share knitting experiences and ideas, the site states.
Owner Brigitte Biver has lived in Norwood Park since 1967. After 20 years in international finance, she states on the site, the time was right for a "calmer, gentler" line of work.
