Not to dwell on old news in the New Year, but 2009's lagging economy and pinched pockets have inspired Rick & Lisa Moorer, owners of local vintage and eclectic Mecca Culture Vultures to spice up the retail world. Embellish, the new business spin off, will offer art classes at Culture Vultures, 8 Daniel Street in West Ashley, beginning January 20th.

Unlike the art classes of grade school past, these center on both funky and functional products. The offerings include classes like; Haute Handbags, Fused Glass Creations, Woodburning (art burnt onto wood, leather and gourds), Polymer Clay Art and even a Mystery Class to keep you on the edge of your creative seats. The added bonus is that participants are supplied vintage fabrics and trimmings to craft their own truly retro piece with a more reasonable price tag.
