Pulp painting exhibit boosts new art form
Handmade paper is considered an art form, and now pulp painting elevates it a notch by incorporating a painting into handmade paper.
You still have time to see examples of this emerging specialty at "The Art of Pulp Painting," an exhibit at the Southwest School of Art & Craft in San Antonio through Jan. 24. Using colored and sometimes textured pulp, artists painted images onto freshly made paper so that they became part of the paper when the creations cured.
Works by 17 artists can be seen in this juried exhibition organized by Hand Papermaking, a group in Beltsville, Md.
