Scrappers scrapbooking club celebrates seventh anniversary

THE VILLAGES — On Saturday morning, a group of hobbyists gathered at Chatham Recreation Center for a special day.

They came bearing tools, die-cuts, card stock and stickers, some wielding rolling bags full of accessories.

Many were sporting pajamas, and some wore hats hinting at the day’s special theme: a birthday party.

The Scrappers, a group of scrapbookers, met for both a crop — a meeting to work on projects — as well as to celebrate the club’s seventh birthday.

“Everybody brings a project and works at their own level, their own speed,” said Irene Howe, who acts as the group’s instructor.

Howe said the reason for the pajamas was to help people feel more at home and comfortable while they worked....
