Getting laid off became a big opportunity for Karen Benke. The Sharon Center resident took everything she had and opened The Little Red Quilt House in Medina.

When Benke lost her accounting position in May of last year, she said she felt like she needed to help the women in the community.

“Because of the talent to sew, I decided to open the quilt shop,” she said. “I also owned a longarm quilting machine and the machine was not used enough. I wanted to share the machine with others, letting them rent time to finish their products.”.......
