Pat Parr has a purse for all occasions and a love for each of them

FORSYTH - Women who know Pat Parr well ask her what purse she's carrying that day.

Those who don't, ask if she would be willing to sell it.Parr has made more than 125 purses, most in the last 10 years, and still has each and every one.

"There's a lot of work in these purses, and each is one of a kind," she said. "I love them all."

Most were crocheted or knitted out of wool yarn then "felted" by soaking in hot water. The resulting bag holds its shape and serves as better canvas for such adornments as buttons or pins, some of which Parr has made.

A 76-year-old retired nurse, Parr is a member of the Decatur Quilters Guild and the Decatur Needle Arts Chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America and always has several projects going......
