Spinning group seeks new members

A Turner spinning group is holding an upcoming charter meeting and hopes to attract new members, spokeswoman Rose Pruitt said.
About six spinners have been meeting informally for the last 20 years, but Pruitt said the group is seeking to expand. At the meeting, members will discuss the group's charter, bylaws and offer lessons.

The meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday with lunch at noon and a business meeting at 1 p.m., at Pruitt's home, 8985 Marian Road SE, Turner.

All experience levels are welcome. The group will work with all fiber arts, including carding, knitting and dyeing, Pruitt said.

The gathering will also be a place to meet new friends and have a good time, Pruitt said. So far, they plan to meet every second Saturday of the month, but that's flexible, she said.

Bring your own spinning wheel. There will be equipment available if you don't have your own, as well as lots of fiber.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Pruitt at (503) 743-4215.
