A quilt tree grows by mail

The lumpy package intrigued me right away. Dropped off at my office, it should have been put aside since I was desperately trying to hit a newspaper deadline.
I couldn't resist.
It was like my fabric radar was going off.
My senses were right. Lynda Hamersma from Lakefield had sent two six-inch squares of purple fabric as part of a quilt tree letter (like a chain letter, but less ominous). I had to set it aside again, but couldn't wait to get it out again and forward it to others.
Several years ago, a similar letter prompted the creation of my favourite quilt. Made from bits of fabric mailed in from all over, I added to it through the Trent Evening Quilters' shoebox program where we rotated quilt projects each month so everyone had a hand in eight other quilts.....
