How to:Crochet Bangle Bracelet

Crochet over a plain bangle bracelet with metallic yarn and this free pattern fromPhyllis Serbes of Many Creative Gifts. This bracelet crochet pattern makes for a quick project. Crochet this intermediate-level bracelet for a Mother's Day gift!
Materials:
- 1 skein metallic gold (or silver) sport or DK weight yarn (shown here, Berroco Lumina, length 95 yds/88 m, cotton, acrylic, and metallic)
- Crochet hook size D/3/3.25 mm
- 1 bangle bracelet
Size: Choose a thin bangle bracelet that fits comfortably; finished crocheted bangle measures 1 inch in width. NOTE- You may need to modify the pattern for larger-sized bangles.
Gauge: 7 or 8 sts = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1 inch
Instructions:
ROUND 1 • (RS): Make a loop with a slip knot, then sc around the bangle bracelet until the bangle is loosely covered (shown here, 57 scs around), sl st to first sc
ROUND 2 • Ch 1, [skip next 3 sts, 6 dcs into next st, skip next 3 sts, 1 sc in next st, ch 4, skip next 3 sts, 1 sc into next st] 4 times, then skip 3 sts, 6 dcs into next st, skip 3 sts, 1 sc into last st
ROUND 3 • Ch 1, [1 sc in each of the 6 dcs below, 1 sc in sc below, 8 dcs into loop, 1 sc in sc below] around, ending with 1 sc in each of the 6 dcs below, 1 sc in last sc
ROUND 4 • Insert hook into first sc of 6-dc shell below then from behind bring hook through sixth sc to the front, pull through a loop, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook (“puff”; see picture), ch 3, [1 sc in each of the 8 dcs below, create puff] around til last puff, ch 3, sl st to sc below, fasten off. [note: there will be two puffs next to each other; we suggest wearing them against your inside wrist; you might also want to dangle some beads from the middle of each 8-dc shell]
