Craft vendors to set up wares downtown

by Mark Thomas

Craftsmen will line both sides of 7th Street when Altavista holds the 61st annual Uncle Billy's Day in June.

This year's get-together with music, a carnival, concessions, art show, car show and more, all capped off by fireworks, will be held June 4-5.

John Tucker, chief of the Altavista Fire Company, which is the event's lead organizer, is looking for 35 craft vendors offering jewelry, quilts, clothes and much more. Another 10-15 specialty vendors with more commercial type products are also expected.

Just to whet your appetite to visit 7th Street, the Altavista Journal recently talked to several craft vendors about how long they've been coming to Uncle Billy's Day and what they're bringing to sell this year.

Craft vendor applications can be found at www.unclebillysdayfestival.com.
