LAKE PLACID - The Greater Lake Placid Chamber of Commerce invites the public to participate in the Caladium Festival Art Competition.

Artwork is to be brought to Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-op, 132 E. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. (Entry will be completed upon submission)

Dates to deliver artwork to the Co-op are Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

All artwork must feature caladiums.

Any medium (oil/acrylic, watercolor, pastel or mixed media) will be accepted as long as it is on a flat surface and is not three dimensional.

All entries must be framed and ready to hang. All entries may be priced for sale during the festival.

All art work will be on display at the Caladium Arts and Crafts Co-op throughout the Caladium Festival on Aug. 27, 28, 29.

The winning artwork in the T-shirt/poster contest will be on display at Heartland National Bank, Lake Placid office, during the upcoming year. The bank contributes a $250 savings bond to the winner.

The winning artwork for the People's Choice Award will be on display at Highlands Independent Bank, Lake Placid office, during the upcoming year. The bank contributes a $250 savings bond to the winner.

The winning artists should make every effort to be available in late August 2011 to sign posters and T-shirts for the Caladium Festival.

The awards for the art competition are the following: First place $50, second place $30, third place $20.

Prizes and ribbons will be awarded in the categories of oils/acrylics, pastels/water colors, and miscellaneous as long as there are at least four entries in each category.

The children's T-shirt/Poster competition for grades 2 through 5 is conducted through the public and private school system.

Wauchula State Bank, Lake Placid, where the art work will be displayed during the upcoming year, contributes a $100 savings bond to the winner.
