Linda Permann’s designs are approachable, fashion-forward, and totally cute!"
—Brett Bara, Editor-in-Chief, Crochet Today

"The lacelike and sculptural qualities of crochet are beautifully highlighted in Linda Permann’s clever book. Appearing in the form of subtle rick-rack on a plain T-shirt, a cute scalloped edging on a coat, a butterfly on an apron, or colorful flowers on a simple cardigan, crochet is here applied like icing on a cake, improving everything it touches. Permann’s book is an inspiration for beginning and advanced crocheters alike"
—Debbie Stoller, author of the Stitch ’n Bitch series of knitting and crochet books

"With outstanding style and creativity, Linda Permann takes crochet embellishment to a fashionable, creative high. Simple instructions, easy project adaptability, and clear stitch diagrams make this book a sure hit."
Wondering what to do with all your tattered Star Wars T-shirts? Get out your Force-sensitive scissors for the Star Wars Craft Book by Bonnie Burton, coming out later this year from Del Rey.

What began in 2004 as a regular crafts feature on StarWars.com is now a book. While fans might recognize some crafts from StarWars.com, the book is also jam-packed full of brand new projects that cater to both beginners and advanced Jawa-level crafters. The book features fully-detailed, step-by-step instructions and photos for each craft.

While this book won't show fans how to make a working Death Star, the book does include tutorials on how to make Star Wars art, puppets, dolls, pet toys, stationary, holiday decorations, scarves, house wares, jewelry, journals, planters, working volcanoes and more. Most supplies in the book can be found in any craft store, around the house, outdoors and even the recycling bin. There are handy tips throughout on how to get the most out of crafting, as well as interviews with other fans that have made their own crafts that would impress even Darth Vader.

For as long as women have been knitting, they’ve been knitting garments for men—only to have men hide their lovingly created pieces in drawers and closets. Men aren’t being intentionally cruel; they’re just not comfortable in knitwear made with bright colors, itchy yarn, or flashy designs.
So what’s a knitter to do? Understand the male psyche, says knitting instructor Bruce Weinstein. In Knits Men Wan he presents ten hilarious essays, each based on a rule that helps women knit for men successfully. “Men Are Babies” explains why guys need to wear soft fabrics. “Men Hate Fittings” describes how to create a sweater based on one that’s in his wardrobe. Following each essay is a timeless master pattern, from socks, hats, and scarves to an array of sweaters, all in a range of sizes and most written for multiple gauges. With this book in hand, women finally have the secret to knitting garments that men will appreciate and actually wear.

Knitting is not just for nanas. Japanese designer Hikaru Noguchi has taken up her knitting needles to create a whole new wardrobe of quirky, original items.

Inside this stylish, soft-cover book you’ll find 31 patterns suitable for all knitters from novices to experts. The usual range of scarves, gloves and hats is accompanied by more unusual items such as cushion covers, handbags and brooches.

Curiously, given the book’s unambiguous title, some of the patterns are actually crocheted, not knitted. The basics of each craft, such as how to cast on and how to make the different stitches, are clearly explained in chapter one.

The patterns are all illustrated with glorious, shabby-chic photographs, making this a charming book to own or to give. Noguchi’s simple little slippers can be made in a single evening and the motifs for the brooches could be used as a variety of decorations.

This is a smart, original take on traditional needlecrafts that could make them appealing to a whole new generation of woolly fashionistas.
