Use legal-size (8 1/2-by-14-inch) decorative paper.

1. Place paper facedown. Fold in half vertically; unfold. Line up left edge with centerline fold, and crease; repeat with right edge. Unfold, and lay flat.

2. Fold top-left corner in to line up with outermost crease, forming a triangle; repeat on top-right corner. Using index fingers and thumbs, pinch together outside points of each triangle so they meet, and crease.

3. While still pinching triangles, fold down top edge (this will make sleeves).

4. Turn paper upside down, and flip it over. Fold down top edge 3/4 inch.

5. Flip paper over. Fold top left and right corners so tips meet at centerline.

6. Tuck bottom edge under collar, and flatten by creasing. For the tie, cut out an 8-by-1/2-inch strip of decorative paper. Knot paper. Snip close to knot on one side; trim other to a point. Glue to shirt.

TAICHUNG - THE Leaning Tower of Pisa stands precariously enough on its stone base, but a team of Taiwan crafts people has made a sturdy replica of it with nothing but paper scraps.

The Italian landmark joins an Eiffel Tower look-alike and Dutch windmills at a 5,200sq m theme park that features about 500 structures, some life-sized, built entirely of cartons or cardboard.

The Carton King Creativity Park opened three years ago to help a declining family-run packaging business turn a new page and teach hundreds of daily visitors to cherish paper.

'It's to give people an understanding of creativity and pass on an environmental message,' said Huang Fang-liang, general manager of the park's founding company Chin Tang Paperware Co. 'It's to say that after using something, you can use it again.'....

Use our heart or butterfly templates, or make your own pattern. Graph paper is good for creating a grid design (such as the one shown at top left). Working on a cutting mat or piece of felt, lay your template over an envelope.

2. With a thick pin, punch holes through the template and envelope until the dotted design is complete.

3. Fill the envelope with blends of scented ingredients. We like the following combinations: cedar tips, cedar shavings, and lavender; orange tea and dried roses; and lemon verbena, chamomile and dried lemon peel. (Vary the amount depending on the envelope size; we used 1 tablespoon in the gift-card envelope.)

4. With a glue stick, seal the envelope.

5. Poke whimsical designs in your paper envelopes, then add your choice of aromatic blends.
